Mandatory Waiting Periods Introduced

biological-clock

Newly introduced mandatory waiting periods for Cosmetic Surgery came into force on October 1st 2016. Written by the Medical Board of Australia and adopted by the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, these waiting periods effect all  patients wanting to have a cosmetic procedure from October 1st.

Who does this effect?

Any  patient wishing to have a cosmetic procedure that is performed with the primary purpose of achieving a more desirable appearance will be effected. For example: Breast Augmentation, Liposuction, Face Lift etc.

Procedures that have a medical indication and are performed for health reasons, or that restore or correct a body feature are exempt from these mandatory waiting periods. In most cases Breast Reduction would fall into this category.

What are the waiting periods?

For adults the waiting period is 7 days for a major procedure.

If you are under 18 the waiting period is 3 months for a major procedure and 7 days for a  minor procedure.
